London, 13 June 2017 – 3D Repo has launched a new version of its cloud software that offers additional support for some of the leading software packages used within the Architecture, Engineering and Construction sectors, such as Autodesk Navisworks. The latest release of the cloud based BIM collaboration platform also provides enhanced support for large 3D models typical of infrastructure projects, as well as integrated VR functionality for applications such as training, safety and project consultation.
“The support for native file formats and software platforms further highlights our commitment to collaboration,” commented Dr Jozef Dobos, CEO of 3D Repo. “We want to make project information as accessible and usable as possible, which is why we engage with as many open source and proprietary formats as we can, allowing users to share 3D models, issues and ultimately knowledge with the wider project team, in the cloud, but still in the context of the original model.”
The latest versions of 3D Repo’s Open Source, Starter, Professional and Enterprise packages include advanced integration with Autodesk Navisworks project review software. A custom plug-in allows data to be uploaded directly to the 3D Repo knowledge base without the need for tedious file exchanges. This works by breaking down and pushing the native Navisworks project directly into the 3D Repo platform online, instead of storing it in files like traditional collaboration tools. This allows users to view models and collaborate with the wider project team through their web browser, even on very large and complex projects. This plug-in is now available on the Autodesk App Store free of charge: https://apps.autodesk.com/NAVIS/en/Detail/Index?id=5149387925117816371
3D Repo has also announced support for the BCF file format, allowing import/export of collaboration and mark up data for issues tracking to software such as Solibri quality assurance solutions, Trimble’s Tekla product family and 3D architectural BIM software ARCHCAD.
Users new to the world of online BIM knowledge bases can find out more and sign up to the 3D Repo online collaborative solution, and try for free the new features and functionality at www.3drepo.org.

Notes to Editors
3D Repo, a spinout from University College London, is a multi-award winning company offering a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the cloud. Instead of architects, consultants and contractors sharing massive proprietary files in a costly and time consuming manner, they can simply point their web browser to an encrypted knowledge base in order to examine each project stage virtually, even on mobile devices.
With 3D Repo, users can then manage model revisions and highlight potential issues using live collaboration tools, which allow the whole project team to work from a single source of truth. More than 40 different 3D file formats are decomposed and federated in the company’s big data repository. Additionally, the project knowledge base can be accessed via VR giving a live experience which has applications in Health and Safety training and client experiences.
The 3D Repo team has collaborated on a number of large scale projects with companies such as ARUP, Balfour Beatty, Skanska, Crossrail and Canary Wharf. http://3drepo.org/
